The Assembly of Women’s Health Improvement Associations

Establishment :

Project target :

  • Provide the necessary funds for the branches to set up small projects for the breadwinner and the poor families
  • Link the basic activities of the association and society, such as sewing workshops, vocational rehabilitation centers, literacy classes and productive families
  • Open direct lending offices in areas that need these services
  • Provide direct finance to the marginalized groups

Lending Branches

The unit started at the beginning of 2006 when the Assembly contracted the Al-Amal Foundation for the Development of Small Projects with a total finance loan reached 500,000 EGP (five hundred thousand Egyptian pounds), the number of five branches in Upper Egypt (Aswan – Luxor – Qena – Nagaa Hammadi – Beni Suef) and then three Other branches with a financing loans of 300,000 EGP (three hundred thousand Egyptian pounds) which are (Sohag – Suez – El Arish). With a total financing loans of 800,000 EGP (eight hundred thousand Egyptian Pounds)

At the end of 2007 the unit started effectively to be formed and proceed from the assembly to its branches with funding received from the Ministry of International Cooperation valued 1 million EGP (one million Egyptian pounds) and at the beginning of 2008 a number of assembly’s branches were contracted, namely (Suez – Arish – Sohag – Qena – Nag Hammadi – Aswan – Luxor – Beni Suef – Damanhour – Kafr Shukr), while Contracts continued with other branches until the number of partner branches reached 13 branches in the tribal and maritime areas.

In 2009, the finance increased by 500,000 EGP (five hundred thousand Egyptian pounds) from the Ministry of International Cooperation. Thus, the unit capital became 1,500,000 EGP as a grant from the Ministry of International Cooperation.

At the end of 2008, the Assembly obtained from the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood an amount of 500,000 EGP as a loan for a year and a half to finance 5 branches (Sohag – Beni Suef – Suez – Arish – Qena).

The number of partner branches in the lending unit at the level of the Egyptian governorates has reached 15.

Direct Lending

Direct Lending started by opening a lending office in Orabi Bridge – Shubra Al-Khaima in September 2010 to set up income-generating projects for breadwinner and low-income families with funding of 250,000 EGP (two hundred and fifty thousand Egyptian pounds) as a first stage.

At the beginning of 2011, another lending office was opened in Sharkawyah district – Shubra Al-Khaimah with financing capacity of 250,000 EGP, then the funds rolled until the capital of direct lending offices reached 1,450,000 EGP and more than 5,000 loans were granted to date

Conditions and requirements for obtaining loans from the lending office in Shubra Al-Khaimah:

  • Must be a resident of Shubra El-Kheima (Hay Sharq – Hay Gharb)
  • Have a personal identification (valid national ID card)
  • The age must not be less than 21 years
  • Have a good reputation
  • Be able to work and have work experience in the submitted project
  • Priority for the mentioned target groups

Target groups

The breadwinner – the owners of micro-enterprises – the owners of crafts and professions – families with low incomes

ID Copy for the customer and the guarantor – electricity or gas receipt for the customer and the guarantor – the original housing contract (matching address in all documents)
