The women’s association adopts groups of values and principles and all individuals adhere to it during their daily transactions and in their dealings with the targeted groups, as follows

The vision

Raise the level of the local community so that it becomes a conscious society and is able to claim and obtain its rights through achieving the principle of effective participation between members of society of both sexes to support and empower marginalized groups (male – female)

The mission

Over fifty years of development in Sohag Governorate, the Women’s Health Improvement Association supports the marginalized groups (woman – man – child) relying on the accumulation of experiences and institutional capabilities and adopting the principles and values ​​of justice, Equality and non-discrimination, to raise the necessary funds to implement projects and services targeting both sexes.

The strategic directions of the association

Activities

The Board of Directors worked during 2019 to develop the financial resources of the association by utilizing the unique available resources, and also worked on implementing development projects that serve the purposes and objectives of the association.

Firstly

The building has been completely finished, the five floors has been completed and the services building has been completed (Girls ’nursery – Fatafeat sokar nursery, plumbing services has been done in the Girl’s Foundation)

Shelter nursery

48 infant children were received from Sohag Child Care, under the supervision of the Social Affairs Directorate of Sohag, and the Association works to provide them with health, social and psychological care through the work of recreational meetings for children

Nursery of special needs children

Female teachers and supervisors have been trained and skills developed to raise the level of service provided to children. The nursery provides many medical, psychological and educational services and is supervised by specialists.

A Mother’s day celebration took place with the children, the chairman and director of the association

The association set up a building for the nursery of special needs children in the latest style, in order to raise the services provided to children consisting of 2 houses

Fatafeat Sokar Nursery

Female teachers and supervisors were trained and skills developed to raise the level of service provided to children

The poverty alleviation project in the village of the martyrs, funded by the Sawiris Development Foundation

The project worked to alleviate poverty on the villagers through the following activities:

  1. Village-level activities aimed at improving the quality of life for individuals
  2. Activities for poor families

Main project’s activities:

  • Beautify the entrance to the village and increase its lighting
  • Small loans to poor families range from 2000 to 3000 EGP for 400 families
  • provide youths with 2 tricycles and 4 toktok
  • Training for 20 girls from village on first aid and provide them with first aid bags (kits) after the training (it is considered custody of non-consuming things such as a pressure gauge, a sugar meter … etc + 200 pounds to start the activity)
  • Provide loans for the liquid soap project “300 pounds” with increasing the number of female trainees to 10 from total 20 trainees

Visiting families chosen by the association to distribute the rabbits and goats’ batteries, according to the agreed criteria

Project to enhance the role of the non-governmental sector in providing family planning services

1. The target group is youth from 18 to 35 years old
2. The target group number is 3000 boys and girls

The Objective:
• Raise youths’ awareness of reproductive health and family planning (male and female)
• provide services to meet their needs through the non-governmental sector
• Improve the quality of health services and empowering youth
• Training the target group on reproductive health and family planning
• Provide the youths with life skills training
